PUMA launch the Milan architecture inspired 20/21 AC Milan home jersey

There aren’t many cities like Milan. Food, fashion and football are just a few pillars of the city which is the economic powerhouse of Italy.
Milan's glamour and creativity is on display on the new 20/21 AC Milan home jersey, as the designers look to pay homage to the city with a contemporary design that is good enough to stack up against its rival Inter Milan’s wavy home jersey.
The jersey is inspired by the elegance and grandeur of the city and it’s breathtaking structures and architecture. It is a place beaming with culture and history – with many visitors each year soaking up all the city has to offer, including visiting the San Siro and watching the Rossoneri play in the famous red and black stripes.
One of the most iconic buildings in Milan is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II which sits right in the heart of town. If you’ve been lucky enough to visit Milan you’ll agree that this building is absolutely spectacular – with it’s massive iron and glass roof designed and built by architect Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877, a stunning execution of 19th-century design.
The shopping mall was named after the first King of Italy and is the oldest active mall in Italy. It’s a four-story double arcade that has so much importance as a common Milanese meeting and dining place. When talking about the soul of Milan – most would refer to the Galleria.
The patterns seen on this new jersey are directly inspired by Mengoni’s work with the all-over print adding a modern twist to an iconic striped jersey. It’s modern Milan at it’s finest.
We’ve said it in the past, most recently with the Borussia Dortmund home jersey, that story telling on jerseys is important and should be in the design brief for all clubs. When you nail the story and design it adds another brilliant layer of intrigue and fantasy to jerseys so many people around the world enjoy.
