The A-League is back and we pick out out top 5 moments from a massive weekend of football.
5. Miranda's Winner
Roderick Miranda’s winner on debut had the Victory fans up and about after a disastrous 20/21 campaign. Victory will savour this one, after winning just the 5 games last season, and it was one the fans deserved, with 5k away fans travelling down to Geelong.
4. Curtis Good's Season Opener
The first goal of the campaign 21/22 Campaign was a scrappy one with Curtis Good tapping in the rebound after a Jamie Maclaren effort from a corner. The goal signalled the start of a great weekend of A-League action, with Curtis Good also picking up the Man of the Match award.
3. Rodwell's Long Range Effort
The Sydney Derby atmosphere was electric at Parramatta and almost got the winner it deserved. Western Sydney new boy and Premier League winner Jack Rodwell made his debut in the 77th minute and almost had an immediate impact, hitting the target from long range and drawing a good save from Redmayne. No doubt its a sign of things to come from Rodwell, who could be one of the leagues best come the end of the season.
2. Fornaroli's Thunderbolt
Bruno Fornaroli scored the goal of the Weekend with Perth Glory’s equaliser against Adelaide at HBF Arena. Arguably the best player in the league received the ball on the halfway line with a beautiful turn, drove towards goal and fired a screamer from long range.
1. Daniel Sturridge
One of the most hyped signings in A-League history made his debut at the weekend in front of a sold-out HBF Arena. Daniel Sturridge didn’t have much time to get involved on the pitch but stayed behind to make his way around the stadium, signing autographs and thanking the fans.
