Nike releases a 2002 remake of the iconic Mercurial Vapor 1 RGN
Tue, Nov 26.24

22 years after the very first release of the Mercurial Vapor boot, a remake of the pair is being released on Monday December 9, 2024.
Ahead of the 2002 World Cup, Ronaldo de Lima adopted the boots and won the fifth World Cup in Brazil’s history, the beginning of an era for the Mercurial Vapor.

The remake features a very similar design to the original, with a chrome colourway, the black swoosh, lime waves along the side and ‘R9’ logo on the tongue.
While the design stays pretty similar, Nike added its latest technology into the boots, with modern traction and speed in the soleplate, creating a pair that weighs less than 200 grams!
For this special and limited edition, only 4,500 pairs are available around the world which of them coming with a unique numbered keychain.
Among the superstars wearing the boot, Vinicius Jr will be lacing up the chrome Vapor:
“It’s a really special feeling to use these boots now, knowing the history behind them. They’re such an iconic boot and a symbol of one of the biggest legends of the game, Ronaldo. I can’t wait to try them in the next games — hopefully, I’ll score as many goals as R9 did with them.” - Vini Jr.

Now the big question – how do I get a pair?
