Japan 2022 World Cup Kits - A Closer Look

The Samurai Blue are ready to take on Qatar 2022 with Origami inspired Home and Away kits.
Unlike many other federations, the home kit for Japan has been designed to be more progressive than its away kit. While the classic Japan blue remains, the origami designs are infused with modern glitch-like graphics, meanwhile the white based away keeps the origami and glitch elements to a minimum.
Arguably the strongest football nation in Asia right now, expect both these kits to be matched with some impressive performances this November.
Adding to Japan’s history of well designed kits, did we expect anything less from adidas?
Cultural Masterpiece for Football’s Biggest Stage
On the home kit is a classical Japan blue matched with the three stripes in white running off the shoulders and red side panels. The graphics across the kit however, is what makes this a contender for being the Jersey of the tournament. An elegant flock of origami cranes showing a clear link to the iconic JFA badge in a modernised design.
Adding to the updates, is the 3 stripes logo for both these jerseys. Re-designed without the adidas text called out below as seen in all adidas World Cup kits.
Rounding it all off is a detailed woven JFA badge. A crest that any Japan fan would want to have on their chest throughout the big tournament.
Onto the features seen on the more subtle Away kit. Origami designs are only present on the shoulders of the jersey. However, sleeve cuffs and a v-neck collar in black adds that extra bit of boldness - rounding this kit off as a strong lifestyle option.
Keeping in mind that these two jerseys were designed for the biggest international sporting event, credits are due to adidas for bringing to life Japanese culture. The crane origami symbolises honor, good fortune and longevity.
