Nike drop the Special Edition Kylian Mbappé Mercurial Superfly Bondy Dreams

From the streets of Bondy in the northeastern suburbs of Paris to the world’s biggest stage. Kylian Mbappé’s rise from Parisian schoolboy to the top of the world game has been chronicled in epic fashion on the all new Bondy Dreams Special Edition Superfly.

At just 20 years of age, the release makes the PSG forward the youngest player and first French footballer to ever receive a personal collection from Nike.

“Bondy is always in my heart; it’s where I found and fell in love with football,” says Mbappé. “It helped shape me as a person and as a player. I have a lot to be thankful for and it is special that Bondy is at the center of this collection. Back then I had my heroes and many of them had their own special edition Nike boot, so to join them in now having one of my own is a dream come true.”

The first thing you notice is the cold grey, green and gold colourway. Grey is a nod to the Parisian suburb of Bondy, while green is a prevailing theme throughout the boot referencing back to Bondy’s rural past, the tree’s on the communes coat of arms and the green shirts worn by Kylian’s boyhood local club AS Bondy.

The touches of gold on the upper and soleplate reference France’s World Cup triumphs and his own personal achievements to date.

Key highlights seen on the boot are the swoosh detailing with NIKE x MBAPPE X BONDY in raised gold lettering inside the swoosh. The sockliner has 2 gold stars and French flags which touch back to his national sides success and the toe box has 93, Bondy's zip code, stamped in gold.  

Our favourite detail comes through on the heel with the traditional Mercurial logo changed to Mbappé in the Mercurial font. How cool is that!?! All of these details combine for an amazing first edition and also showcase that Nike are all in on their vision of Mbappé spearheading the brand from 2020 onwards.  

Tech wise the boot is basically the same as any other Superfly 7 with a streamlined upper and Nike Aerotrak zone combine for fast-paced play to blow past the competition. The key here is the added detail and trust us, it takes the boot to a whole new level.
