Every year the greatest football player of the season is awarded the Golden Ball. Luka Modrić’s win is the result of a full year of accomplishments. To celebrate the highest individual achievement in football and mark their supreme talent on the pitch, Nike Football introduces the “Golden Touch” Mercurial.

The boot – which drops in both Vaporfly and Superfly models – gets covered in a ‘Pure Platinum’ colourway with a gold trim, in recognition of Modric’s sparkling year.

Luka Modrić won the Ballon D’Or on December 3, marking the first time in 10 years, that either a player not named Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has won the award.

Fresh from winning the Champions League for a third consecutive season, Modric led Croatia to the World Cup final where he won the award for tournament’s best player. He was also crowned UEFA Men’s Player of the Year prior to his Ballon d’Or triumph, marking a truly astonishing 2018.
