FIFA 22 Review
Fri, Oct 01.21

The new Fifa has arrived and we managed to get our hands on a copy to test it out for all our Ultra customers.
Gameplay
Pace has always been the most important thing in Fifa but abusing pace will be less effective this year with patient passing and timing runs being much more important. The change in approach makes the game feel much more realistic, and it feels more rewarding to score a goal with nice build-up play to stretch defences and slip a pass in behind.
The Goalkeepers have been improved but are still prone to dropping a disaster-class every now and then. The atmosphere has definitely improved as well, the fans and atmosphere of matchday feeling much more like watching a match on tv rather than a video game.
Ultimate Team
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it is the message for Ultimate Team this season with the mode not really receiving any major upgrades or additions. The menus are a bit easier to navigate in Ultimate Team and Division Rivals and FUT Champions have been tweaked slightly to make qualification and rewards easier, while you have fewer matches to play this season in FUT Champions and can enter whenever you want rather than just at the weekend.
Division Rivals now rewards playing time rather than just success in matches, making the game more rewarding and less stressful when conceding in the 95th minute. There's also a table to still keep track of and FUT Champions is now split between playoffs and finals.
Football nerds can rejoice this year too, with advanced stats including xG, heatmaps and pass charts so you can tell which players in your ultimate team & career mode aren’t cutting it.
Career Mode
Our favourite addition to FIFA 22 is no doubt the brand new create a club feature in career mode that lets you add your own custom club to any league in the world. The feature lets you design your own jersey, badge, and stadium giving you your very own club which you can bring up the leagues and win every trophy under the sun.
Once you’ve customised your club the game will generate a squad for you which means you won’t be able to customise the players themselves. When all setup, it plays out like a career mode usually would with any other team.
