One of the most talented Aussies in football just happens to be away from the pitch.
Emily Marrocco has been making waves in the football community with her artwork and now the Aussie artist and Liverpool fanatic has unveiled her much-anticipated next piece, this time featuring wonderkid; Harvey Elliott.
As Elliott started to break into the first team, Emily was inspired to capture the red on canvas after his horror ankle injury, when he gave his kit to a young fan at the hospital.
Liverpool fans flocked to Harvey’s socials after the injury with messages of support and the iconic ‘YNWA’ slogan was everywhere. The support of the fans motivated Marrocco to incorporate them into her artwork.
“I specifically chose my reference of Harvey walking, painting him in front of a more abstract interpretation of the Kop to symbolise the YNWA messages the fans were sending Harvey’s way during what would have been such a frustrating time for him”
The painting not only drew the attention of the footballing community but of the man himself too.
"Harvey was really supportive during the progress of the piece and after sharing the final product, thanked me for taking the time to paint him which made the whole process of painting the piece even more incredible”
Emily’s previous work has included the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane & Federico Chiesa but the Elliot piece could be her best yet.
We can’t wait to see what’s next from Emily, and if you’re after a bit of football art, you can shop her prints at emilymarroccoart.com.au
