adidas launch the limited edition X 99.1 - A modern tribute to the 99g F50 adizero

15 years on from the fan favourite F50 in 2004, adidas Football have announced that the surprise Limited Edition X 99.1 release will be available from 6PM (AEST) Tuesday 3/9/19.

The 99.1 is a modern take on one of the most important football boots in history and features some familiar parts. The pattern, sockliner and ripstop material are original from the 99g, along with the predominately white upper reinforcing the feeling of light and fast.

To further emphasize the fast DNA of the X franchise, the speed of light coordinates (299,792,458 m/s) have been printed on the sockliner.

The rest of the colourway, which features bright cyan and shock pink, link back to the X colours from the current Hard Wired Pack.

Although the X 99.1 doesn’t weigh the original 99g, at 198g it is impressively lighter than the X 19+ and is sure to spike interest among fans of the original silo who still have the need for speed. The heavier build also means that the product is more durable over time.

Fans of the 99g will also remember that the release was only available in size 8. The 99.1 will be available in a full size run, but naturally with a limited release like this you’ll need to be fast to secure a pair as numbers will be tight!
