adidas Drop The Limited Collection Predator Dragon Mutator

One of the biggest releases we'll see in 2020 has arrived in the form of the undeniably bold Limited Collection Predator 20+ Dragon Mutator. Wow.

adidas wanted to magnify the concept of Demon Skin on the all new Predator 20 for this release and looked to one of the scariest creatures imaginable, the dragon, to be the inspiration behind the design. 

The darkness and power surrounding the mythical creature is encapsulated on the boot in an effort to move away from a simple colourway for what is a massive moment for the brand. The idea was to truly mimic the look of a dragon by its dark tone red and black colourway with a mixture of leather and Fusion skin on the upper instead of the usual Primeknit. 

The use of this upper enabled adidas to deboss scales on the leather, as well as adding different finishes to create a colour shifting skin.

One of our favourite parts about this release has to be the box, shaped like a dragon egg, that the boots come packaged in. The pattern used on the box is the inline Predator box but in a debossed tonal execution which really takes the design to new heights.

On the inside, 2 elastics hold the boots on either side which pay tribute to the tongue elastic from the original Predator boots of the past. What a way to complete an amazing release.
