Female Serie A Will Turn Professional from 2022/23
Fri, Apr 29.22

The Women’s Serie A will become a fully recognised professional league starting from the 22/23 season. The Italian Football Federation took control of the women's league back in 2018 and begun the two year process of turning it pro.
The move will massively increase the growth of the league with now able to benefit more greatly from player sales and the removal of salary caps.
Players will be eligible to earn more than 30,000 a season - something which hasn’t been available to women in Italy in the history of football with most women earning around 60 per week.
The 2019 World Cup was a turning point for women's football in Italy with the team making it to the quarter-finals & currently top of their group for the 2023 World Cup with the men failing to qualify for the second tournament in a row.
The move will allow for bigger & better sponsorships & tv rights deals which again will assist to grow the league domestically & help players & teams compete at a European & international level.
