Unwanted FC, Alex Chidiac & Common Goal Link Up For A Special Collection
Wed, Jun 08.22

Aussie upcycling brand Unwanted FC has once again done what they do best. This time, having the pleasure of reworking professional footballer Alex Chidiac’s old kits from her playing career thus far.
Alex Chidiac, only 23, has traveled extensively throughout the world thanks to her impressive career despite a young age. Now playing for Racing Louisville FC in the United States, she has been collecting some beautiful garments along the way from her previous clubs Atletico Madrid, JEF United, Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.
Chidiac shared her thoughts on the project, adding,
“I wanted to work with Unwanted FC to upcycle my old kits because I believe in their zero waste mission, and absolutely love the idea of keeping memory of old kits alive in everyday items.”
The Matilda has always been one that looks far beyond the field. The impact she’s been making through charities like Common Goal has proved impressive all whilst juggling a professional career in football.
Through Common Goal, Chidiac already donates 1% of her earnings every year, but she’s also proactively working on projects to have further impact. One charity specifically that has been getting a lot of love and attention from Chidiac is Moving The Goalposts in Kenya.
Moving The Goalposts is a unique organization that links gender-based violence, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and economic empowerment within youth sports programming. The organization uses football as the main tool to positively impact the lives of disadvantaged girls and young women between the ages of 9 – 25 in the rural coastal region of Kenya.
Since 2001, they’ve empowered over 50,000 girls by letting them into a community where their voices are heard and conversations about healthy decisions on their future are discussed.
Together, Unwanted FC, Alex Chidiac & Common Goal are challenging the norm with this purposeful collaboration.
