With jersey releases just about done for the season, we take a look at our favourites and countdown the best 20 jerseys of the 21/22 club season.
20. Borussia Dortmund Away (Puma)
Borussia Dortmund’s Jerseys didn’t quite reach the heights of last season’s but the Away Jersey for the 21/22 season is a nice one nonetheless. Without Jadon Sancho it'll be up to the likes of Jude Bellingham and Marco Reus to pull off the black and grey shirt.
19. Chelsea Home (Nike)
The classic Chelsea blue home shirt received a big change up, taking inspiration from the Op Art movement which emerged in the 1960s. The jersey consists of an optical illusion-inspired pattern that moves from zig zags on one side to a checkerboard pattern on the other.
18. Fiorentina Home (Kappa)
The Fiorentina 21/22 Home Jersey is a traditional purple jersey with a thick white stripe across the chest and nice red trimming on the neck and sleeves. Kappa also revert back to the club crest of the 1980s for a nice throwback look.
17. Juventus Away (adidas)
The predominantly black away kit is scattered with colourful linear accents, inspired by the lights of the famous C2C festival festival. For the Three Stripes on the shoulders adidas use a shimmering orange and pink iridescent design, the first of its kind from adidas.
16. Bayern Munich Away (adidas)
You can never really go wrong with a black and gold kit and that's proven again with the Bayern Munich Away. The design is a tribute to the city of Munich, and acknowledging the success that Bayern have had in the last decade.
15. AC Milan Away (Puma)
The new AC Milan Away jersey features an all over pattern celebrating New York, Rio de Janeiro, Kolkata, Melbourne, Nairobi and Milan with the outlines of the cities featured on the Jersey. The Golden shirt also celebrates the work of the club's charity Fondazione Milan.
14. Aston Villa Away (Kappa)
The Villa away kit is an obvious nod to the 1982 European cup winning side and the away jersey which was worn in the final. The shirt is a traditional white away with thin claret vertical stripes with claret and blue trimming.
13. Atletico Madrid Away (Nike)
Nike's Atletico Madrid Away Jersey pays tribute to the 95/96 side, based of the jersey the side wore when they won the domestic double with the La Liga title and the Copa Del Rey. The Jersey is also tied back into the home with a brush stroke design.
12. Ajax Home (adidas)
The new Ajax Home Jersey by adidas utilises the previous Ajax club crest which was used up until 1991. This is a move sure to excite retro fans, with many of the Ajax faithful against the modernised logo when it changed over 30 years ago.
11. Southampton Third (Hummel)
The Hummel Southampton 2021-22 third shirt has a unique look on black and red. It pays tribute to the club’s current and former homes with St Mary's and the Dell pitches featuring across the front.
10. Manchester City Away (Puma)
Puma & Manchester City combine for a jersey all about safe water. If you look closely you’ll see a water droplet design throughout the jersey and the iridescent colour design of the clubs badge, puma logo and the shirt sponsors are inspired by the colours that appear when light hits water droplets.
9. Real Madrid Away (adidas)
The adidas Real Madrid Away Jersey is covered in a graffiti and street art inspired graphic, taken from the street of Malasaña. The Jersey is also heavily inspired by the 1998/99 third jersey which also used a blue base with orange and white accents.
8. Manchester United Away (adidas)
Manchester United and adidas have brought back the snowflake design from 1992, reworking the iconic design by taking “Cloud White” and “Glory Blue” and bringing them together as part of an optical art pattern engineered into the fabric.
7. Liverpool Away (Nike)
The Liverpool Away Jersey by Nike comes in an off-white colour with flashes of 'bright crimson' for the Liverpool crest & Nike Swoosh and 'dark atomic teal' on the sleeve cuffs & collar. The shirt is inspired by the cult classic 1996/97 shirt of the same colourway which Robbie Fowler wore while banging in 18 goals, finishing 7 behind top scorer Alan Shearer.
6. PSG Away (Nike)
The most stylish club in football were bound to be on this list, combining with Nike for a beautiful Away Jersey. The Nike Swoosh is back for the away jersey after the Jumpman logo was used for the home jersey for the first time. The colours used for this design are references to 1970s architecture in Paris and “Paname” culture that thrives in the city’s suburbs.
5. Tottenham Away (Nike)
The Nike Spurs 21/22 away shirt combines a black base and "Venom Green" logos with a ridiculous colourful pattern in an all over graphic creating a jersey unlike anything we have ever seen before.
4. Inter Milan Home (Nike)
The shirt uses pixelated royal, navy blue and black to resemble snakeskin, forming the club’s familiar Nerazzurri stripes. The snakeskin pattern is an ode to the coiled grass snake, or Biscione, an important historical symbol for the city of Milan and for the club. The kit marks the first time in a decade that the club’s home kit references the serpent
3. Barcelona Away (Nike)
The vibrant purple on Barcelona’s 21/22 away shirt that’s created by the fusion of the classic Barca blue and red on the club’s gives a beautiful, modernised and pastel look for an away kit like never before – sticking true to the dynamic, creative and outspoken youth who are the pulse of the city, while also sending a message in favour of women’s empowerment.
2. Arsenal Third (adidas)
The design from the 95/96 season is revamped here, with the lightning bolt being replicated across the whole shirt in the same colour scheme as the original. The new design, which takes inspiration from 90s style and culture, also features a split colour adidas badge of sport – a call back to the EQT logos of the era. The shirt is a combination of a darker “Mystery Blue”, “Scarlett” and “Signal Cyah”
1. Venezia Home (Kappa)
The textured black base is embellished with impressive gold elements, inspired by the city’s gilded churches, monuments, and palazzi and the overall historical significance of gold in Venetian art and commerce going back to the Late Medieval and Early Renaissance periods. Most notably, the shirt features the gold stars of the iconic Basilica di San Marco arranged as a “V”.
