The Special Edition Inter Milan IM Jersey Has Landed

What a time to be a fan of FC Internazionale Milano. After years being in the shadows of their Derby d’Italia counterparts, Juventus, the Milan side are odds on favourites to take out the Serie A this season. They are also going after the Old Lady commercially, with their brand-new modernised IM logo recently revealed, aiming to help drive the club to new heights around the globe after Juventus did similar with their logo update back in 2017. Both are ultra-modern and focused on the future.
The new Special Edition Inter Milan IM jersey is the first to include the new IM logo and, sadly, the last Inter jersey we’ll likely ever see with the famous Pirelli logo. A beautiful partnership which we’ve spoken about at length in our recent article which discussed some of the best jerseys from the Inter Milan x Pirelli era. That fact that this is the last jersey to feature Pirelli should be enough for us to convince you to pick one up for your collection, let alone the epic design.
This jersey reminds us of some of the epic 90’s kits the likes of Jürgen Klinsmann used to run amok in back in the day, and the best thing about this crazy design is unlike some other 4th jerseys from teams around the world, this one stays true to the clubs traditional colours.
The overall design is inspired by futuristic artist Giorgio Muggiani, one of the club's founders and the designer of the first Nerazzurri logo. Futuristic is the perfect way to describe this one - and Giorgio would have been proud of this execution. The jersey features an arrangement of shapes down the body, with yellow prints on the chest which pop out to more scaled back stripes, circles and grids which all come together extremely nicely given how bold the overall jersey is.
The new crest leads the team identity forward through proportions, in which symmetry by way of a clean “IM” monogram offers an original yet familiar visual code for the Nerazzurri fans. A code we will see more and more of in the years ahead.
We’re keen to see this jersey on pitch and thankfully the club are as well. Inter are in discussions with Serie A to seek permission to bring this to life on pitch – but we'll have to wait and see. You’ll be able to play with this Special Edition Inter Milan IM jersey on FIFA21 from April 10, the same day in which you’ll be able to pick up the real thing in store at Ultra HQ in Sydney or online.
