Safari Print Is Back With The Nike Mercurial CR7 Safari Pack

10 years ago Nike unveiled the Safari Print Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II. This was a massive release, not only because of the unforgettable colourway but also because it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s first signature edition boot.

Safari print, introduced on the 1987 Air Safari designed by Tinker Hatfield, debuted on performance football footwear with Ronaldo’s boot in November 2010. The release was an instant classic, with the bold chevron pattern design which illuminated in certain light proving popular with fans around the world.

Ronaldo debuted the boots in the Madrid derby in November 2010, with Real winning 2-0 at the Bernabéu. It was in his third game in the SuperFly II though where Ronaldo made his mark in the new release, scoring a hat-trick in the 5-1 route of Athletic Bilbao which included a long range knuckle ball free kick which left the Bilbao keeper in all sorts of trouble, with the ball changing direction late as it approached the goal.

After 10 years it’s time for Safari Print to return to the pitch in celebration of this anniversary and with updated technology all these years later, what you have is a Mercurial Superfly and Vapor in an iconic colourway that is sure to be one of the best releases we will see in 2020.
