Last season was a typical one of the Dortmund seen in recent years. Moments of brilliance combined with disappointing losses and underachievement. Luckily for Dortmund’s last season of two halves, it was somewhat in the best order. A horror start was corrected in the end, with Champions League qualification clinched and a DFB-Pokal trophy against RB Leipzig the highlight.
It looked like disaster a few months ago with Dortmund having so much work to do in terms of making the Champions League – and missing out would have had a significant impact on how the team looked next season. No UCL action almost certainly would have meant no Haaland and Sancho. With UCL secured, Dortmund may get away with just selling one of their stars. The ball is in their court again and they don’t have to do anything because of finances.
The new Borussia Dortmund 21/22 home jersey which the team will wear this season features the traditional yellow so symbolic of the German powerhouse, met with black stripes on the sleeves which is the new standout design update compared to last season’s wild and polarising design. A design we loved by the way, and one that is certainly going to get better with age similar to some of the classic kits from the 90’s.
Another change this time around is seen via the neckline which is a v-shape and a much deeper cut. The yellow colour blocking on the front of the jersey allows the 1&1 logo to stand out – we’re just not sold on it as a sponsor that does well for a jersey’s overall design.
Tech wise the jersey combines 100% polyester and advanced PUMA dryCELL thermoregulation technology to ensure uncompromising fit and mobility, keeping the athlete dry and comfortable.
It’s going to be a very interesting campaign next season for a Dortmund team with a new manager in Marco Rose. Rose has a lot of work to do to bring this team closer to rivals Bayern Munich – and he’ll be hoping he has the likes of Haaland, Bellingham and other stars at his disposal. We’ll have to wait and see who lines up in this jersey next season.
You can get the Borussia Dortmund 21/22 home jersey in store at Ultra HQ or online now.
