How many times have we all thought “they’ve done it again” when it comes to Paris Saint-Germain jerseys? Once again Nike’s design team and the Paris based club have absolutely killed it with the 20/21 Paris Saint-Germain home jersey an absolutely must cop. Just look at that design.

This isn’t a normal jersey release for PSG. The upcoming season coincides with the 50th anniversary of the club and the design fittingly takes inspiration from the past.
Back in 1973 French fashion designer Daniel Hechter became the PSG president and designed the club’s traditional home look that year, which had a red vertical stripe down the middle of the shirt, bordered with white, on a blue background.
The consensus is that the Ajax jersey was the inspiration for the famous jersey now known as the “Hechter”. It’s an easy link to make considering just how dominant Ajax were at the time, but Hechter himself denies the link claiming that his debut design for the club took inspiration from the Ford Mustang – transposing the car’s hood stripes on the jersey and adding the clubs three colours of red, blue and white.
Whatever you choose to believe – Hechter came up with an absolutely stunning design which remains as the classic identity of PSG. His early white away strip is also celebrated as one of the best of all time which is why if you were lucky enough to cop last season’s away jersey based off the design you made a smart choice!
The classic away design was loved by another PSG president in Francis Borelli who promoted it as the home jersey from 1981 to 1990.
Anyway, enough of the past jersey talk. Back to the present day. The 20/21 home jersey pays homage to the “Hechter” with the classic PSG look given added details including the wording “Paris Saint-Germain - 50 ans" on the side of the jersey and a small French flag at the bottom left of the jersey which celebrate the 50th anniversary.
The Accor Live Limitless logo is really starting to feel at home on the PSG jerseys now – we really can’t fault this design. Make no mistake it’s going to sell out so don’t sleep on this release.
