Meet The Victoria Park Vixens: A Women's Football Club with a Men's Team
Wed, Dec 20.23

What started as a call-out for girls to join a football team on Instagram in early 2019, has culminated in a football club which captures the essence of the grassroots game and everything that is great about it.
On February 28th 2019, the Victoria Park Vixens posted a team photo with eight players who were buzzing to get their season underway in the Super 5s league at Mabley Park in the London Borough of Hackney. The caption notes that the team had met just that week following the initial call-out.
A few weeks later, the team photo had thirteen players. A month later, it had twenty-three. Within the first six months of their existence, the team had played a game at Stamford Bridge, released a brilliant new kit by Nike and featured in Mundial Mag (if you don’t mind).
This rapid growth hasn’t stopped in the four years since and is a testament to the clubs Aussie founder, Morgan Brennan. After moving to London in 2019, Morgan was the one who put the call out on Instagram in a bid to meet like-minded people and make new friends. In the last few years, the Vixens have continued to go from strength to strength, now fielding teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions on almost every day of the week. They do remain however, as opposed to other clubs, and most importantly, a 'women's football club, with a men's team'.
Their most recent escapades include a brand spanking new logo and a fresh kit for it to go on. The latest jersey comes in the form of a sleek Kappa number designed by Kieran Riddiough in the club’s claret and green colours and is an absolute masterpiece. Think Venezia and Athens Kallithea, but on an elevated level, as if that was even possible? Like a 90th minute winner, the Vixens may have just snatched the ‘jersey of the year’ title in the dying embers.
And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve just launched the kit playing some friendlies on a tour of Athens. Yep, you read that right. The Vixens have just travelled to Athens to play a friendly against Greek amateur side Abalos F.C. (who are also very cool, and you should check them out too @fc_abalos). The London side came out victors, with an 8-7 extra-time win at the Athens Kallithea stadium.
The home jersey is promised to be retailed shortly and the photos from the Athens tour also hint at an away jersey, which looks just as good. We can’t wait to get our hands on one, or both. Not just because they look fantastic, but because the Victoria Park Vixens are everything that is good about football. Mates getting together and having fun, all while promoting the women’s game and providing these women with a community and platform to do their thing. Long live local football, and long live the Vixens.
