Adidas has been firing on all cylinders of late; from the launch of the new Predator to a stack of unbelievable club and country kits, there's a lot of heat coming out of Germany. Today marks another landmark moment in a massive 2024 for the brand, with the announcement of one of the most electrifying young talents in world football, Lamine Yamal, joining the Three Stripes family on a long-term deal.
Lamine Yamal hails from the vibrant streets of Rocafonda, just 40 minutes from the club's training ground, and he has immense pride in his roots in the area. Born to a Moroccan father and a mother from Equatorial Guinea, Yamal has spent his youth in Barcelona, and at 16 years of age, he already looks like a player who can do things none of his teammates can. Sound familiar?
“I am proud to join adidas as they have always been the brand of the best. Growing up, I idolized Leo Messi who has been with adidas since I first started watching football. I look forward to the many years ahead with adidas.” - Lamine Yamal.
With an immense turn of pace and agility, Yamal is set to dominate in the boots that suit his style to no end, the adidas X Crazyfast. A match made in heaven for the bright young talent who is eager to follow in his idol Lionel Messi's footsteps. And in X Crazyfast, he's following in the same footwear.
Adidas' launch video for the announcement throws it back to Yamal's roots, and those with a keen eye for boot culture will note that he's got Messi's latest signature release, the X Crazyfast Spark Gen10s, on his feet. A testament to his admiration for the legendary Messi and showing just how driven he is to follow in his footsteps. Even if he gets even close to Messi's exploits, he'll have had one extraordinary career to look back on one day.
We can't wait to see how Yamal fares in his new boots and know that there might be a couple of special editions coming up in the not too distant future. At 16 years old, the sky's the limit.
