Best Kits of the 2023 National Womens Soccer League
Mon, Mar 20.23

Kicking off later this month is the NWSL, which has become one of the most competitive football leagues for Women in recent times. Past and present, some big names have featured in this league. Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Marta and of course, our very own Sam Kerr & Alex Chidiac.
Of course this comes with highly anticipated football jerseys each season. To add to the hype, just recently this month, EA Sports introduced all 12 NWSL squads alongside their new authentic kits into the game for the very first time.
The team at Ultra Football HQ has put together our top five (in no order) which stands out. Unlike the Men's league (MLS), the NWSL is not fully covered by adidas, but with Nike instead.
Angel City FC ‘Represent’ Away Kit
Representing your football club just got a little more personal. Angel City FC’s new 2023 ‘Represent’ away kit was without a doubt, made for the fans.
The jersey follows a signature shade of pink accenting a light grey base whilst also incorporating the club’s motto ‘volemos’ (let’s fly) on the back of the neck in Gothic lettering. The shirt pays homage to Los Angeles and the diverse communities that make the city what it is.
Made up of a halftone map of LA County against the Pacific Ocean taking up the majority of the front – there’s no mistaking what area this jersey represents. The most unique part of the kit isn’t the map though, but the iron-on patches that fans can have pressed onto their shirts. There is an emphasis on the city’s diversity, with designs depicting Black, Asian, Latino, and Indigenous communities, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
Fans can choose to purchase as many patches as they like, and can either have them heat-pressed onto their jerseys or sent to them as they are, ready to place on any piece of clothing. Nike has taken DIY to another level with this kit and it comes at a time when personalisation is a huge focus for the brand.
Portland Thorns Tattoo Inspired Kit
The reigning champions have been given some much deserved love from Nike. You may have already seen this one across social media in recent times, but the Thorns has been treated to a white jersey with a tattoo-inspired design across the chest and shoulders, which will be paired with dark green shorts. With Y2K fashion coming back, this kit has many players and fans reminiscing.
The jersey features the phrase “Rose City ‘Til I Die” across the chest, with the Thorns logo front and center on the shirt. Bold and unique without a doubt. Undeniably an out of the box design from Nike, whose headquarters are also situated out of Portland, Oregon.
Bold. Unique. Undeniable.

Chicago Red Stars home kit
Another one to catch our attention comes from Chicago Red Stars, who have unveiled their 2023 home shirt, known as “The Foundation Kit”.
With four red stars positioned across the center of the shirt, this represents the bedrock of the foundational framework being laid as the club prepares to enter a new chapter.
This jersey sees the elegance and style of Chicago, combined with the grit and tenacity of the Red Stars. It’s achieved through a predominantly black base, with those previously mentioned four stars standing out as the focal point. But there’s more to be admired, with a faint interconnected star graphic playing out across the entire shirt. We also love that the crest is of opposing contrast to the black base.
Racing Louisville
Since their establishment in 2021, Racing Louisville has not missed on their kit releases. While they haven’t released a new kit for this season yet, they deserve recognition even if they make use of last season's home and away strips. Especially during a time when the world is becoming more conscious of the overproduction of garments. Saving the world, and saving the money of the fans.
The mint away kit was a joyous edition to the league last season, featuring a white base with many details repeated in mint green. The Nike and Club logos are finished off in lavender.
NY Gotham FC home kit
While this kit maintains its black elements again, Gotham’s trademark teal is sprinkled throughout in a fun way. The diagonal ‘lightning-like’ stripes reminds us of classics such as 90’s Arsenal and the 2018 Nigeria Kit. Nothing less than another stylish piece for the New Yorker to rock on or off the pitch.
Get yours and match with us on game day. 😘

The NWSL season is set to kick off on March 25, in what’s marked as a huge year of Women’s football.
If you aren’t already following this league, we highly recommend you get onto it. The team at Ultra Football can’t wait to welcome some NWSL stars here in Australia when the World Cup arrives in July.
